The DDA is on its way!!

Happy DID awareness day everyone! We have some exciting news to share with you.
Since October a small group of volunteers, of which we are a part, have been meeting regularly and working hard to start a charity for and by people with dissociative disorders, their supporters and professionals working in the field – The Dissociative Disorders Alliance (The DDA).

We want to;
• Improve access to appropriate and effective support and care,
• Build a welcoming and thriving community,
• Improve the recognition and understanding of dissociative disorders – amongst health and social care professionals and the general public,
• Build alliances with national and international practitioners and organisations so we can all work together towards shared positive outcomes for people with dissociative disorders.

We are currently in the process of applying to the charity commission to achieve charity status. We plan to start small and grow as resources and opportunities become available. We are really excited about all the possibilities in front of us that will enable us to make meaningful and lasting positive change for people with dissociative disorders.

If you think you might be able to help or want to get involved with our emerging charity please do get in touch with us – Liv et al – using the comment box below, or the contact form at the bottom of the ‘about me and my blog’ page.

In the meantime, please look out for us on twitter (@theDDAglobal) and share this message with anyone who you think might be interested.

With thanks and hope for the future,

Liv et al
